7 Days to Die has a built-in command console on PC. In single player every command is available. In multiplayer, many commands need admin rights on the server.
This page covers how to open the console, the commands that sources agree on, and the common questions: item list, skill points, teleport, god mode, Xbox and PS4, and older versions such as Alpha 21.
How to open the console in 7 Days to Die
- Start your game on PC (single player, or a server where you have admin rights).
- Press F1 to open the command console. If that does nothing, try F2 or the O key, depending on your keyboard layout.
- Type a command and press Enter.
- Type help to list commands, or help <command> to see the options for one command.
- On a multiplayer server, add yourself as admin first with admin add <SteamID> <level>, run from the server console or by editing serverconfig.xml.
The console is a PC feature. Most sources say Xbox and PlayStation versions have no command console; one hosting page claims an Xbox cheat toggle that could not be verified. On consoles, use Creative Mode in the world setup instead.
How 7 Days to Die commands work
- Many commands have short aliases: dm (debugmenu), cm (creativemenu), tp (teleport), tele (teleportplayer), se (spawnentity), st (settime), lpi (listplayerids).
- Angle brackets such as <amount> mean you replace the part with your own value. Do not type the brackets.
- Item names are internal names, for example resourceWood or drinkJarCoffee, not the names shown in the game.

7 Days to Die console commands on Xbox and PS4
Despite the name, the "console commands" are a PC feature. Most sources state that the Xbox and PlayStation versions have no command console, so there is no F1 box and no giveself on PS4 or PS5.
One hosting page describes an Xbox setting called Console Cheats, but it could not be confirmed elsewhere, so treat it as unverified. A safer option on consoles is Creative Mode, which you can select in the world setup.
7 Days to Die console commands item list
To get an item, use giveself <itemName> <amount>. The name must be the internal item name. Examples seen in guides are resourceWood, drinkJarCoffee, ammo9mmBulletBall and gunHandgunT2Magnum44.
The game does not print one big list for you in the console, so look up internal names in an item ID list or in the game's item files. Wrong names simply fail, which is harmless.
7 Days to Die console commands skill points
There is no verified command that gives skill points directly. Use giveselfxp <amount> to add experience, which raises your level, and use giveselfskillxp <skill name> <amount> to add XP to one skill.
For giveselfskillxp, capitalize and space the skill name exactly as in the game, for example Mining Tools.
7 Days to Die console commands: teleport player and god mode
Teleport yourself with teleport <x> <y> <z>, or send another player with teleportplayer <playerID> <x> <y> <z>. Use listplayerids to find IDs. South and west coordinates are negative.
God mode is part of debug mode. Type dm (debugmenu), then use the G key in game to toggle god mode and H for fly mode.
7 Days to Die Alpha 21 console commands
The commands on this page are the ones current guides agree on. The game's commands can change between versions, and some guides were written for older builds.
On any version, type help in the console to see the commands your build actually has, and help <command> for the arguments.
Why 7 Days to Die console commands are not working
- F1 does nothing: try F2 or O, or check that the game window has focus.
- Command says not permitted: you are not an admin on that server. Add yourself with admin add <SteamID> <level> on the server.
- giveself fails: the item name is wrong. Use the internal name, with the same capitalization.
- giveselfskillxp fails: the skill name must be capitalized and spaced exactly as in the game.
- A command is unknown: it may not exist in your version. Use help to check.
