Rust Console Commands: Admin List and Spawn Items

November 3, 2026 · Cheat Codes, Survival
Quick answer: In Rust, press F1 to open the console. Most useful commands, such as god, noclip, teleport and inventory.give, need admin rights. A server owner grants them with ownerid <Steam64ID> or moderatorid <Steam64ID>. Example: inventory.give <item> <amount> gives yourself an item once you are admin.

Rust has a built-in F1 console, but the commands that matter (spawning items, god mode, teleporting, banning) only work for admins. On your own listen or local server you can make yourself admin. On someone else's server you cannot.

This page explains the access method, then lists the admin commands that sources agree on: server, admin, spawn items, teleport and moderation.

How to open the console and become admin in Rust

  1. Join a server or start a local one, then press F1 to open the console.
  2. To run admin commands you need an admin level. An existing owner types ownerid <Steam64ID> (highest level) or moderatorid <Steam64ID> (second level).
  3. Type find <text> in the console to search commands and variables that match that text.
  4. Run the command, for example god true or noclip.
  5. Remove ranks with removeowner <Steam64ID> or removemoderator <Steam64ID>.

This page covers the PC console. Admin commands are server-side: they only work if the server has given your account owner or moderator rights. On servers you do not own, you cannot grant yourself admin.

Before you use commands: A server page notes its admin list is not 100% complete, and names or syntax can differ by version. Use find or help in the console to confirm.

How Rust commands work

  • Some commands are written with a prefix, such as global.ban, global.kick or sv say. Both forms appear in guides.
  • Steam64ID is your 17-digit Steam ID. Many commands also accept the player name.
  • The command teleportpos takes coordinates in quotes: teleportpos "x, y, z".
  • Item commands use the item short name, for example inventory.give <item> <amount>.

Rust server console commands

Server owners can run commands from the server console or from F1 in game once they hold the owner rank. Host guides list server control commands such as server.save, server.readcfg, server.writecfg, server.stop and global.restart.

Kick and ban commands exist in both short and prefixed forms. Use kick <name> <reason> or global.kick <name>, depending on your build.

Rust console commands to spawn items

Use inventory.give <item> <amount> to add something to your inventory, or inventory.giveid <itemid> <amount> if you have the item's numeric ID.

spawnitem <item> drops it in the world where you are looking. If the name is not found, the game suggests close matches, which helps when you do not know the short name.

Rust admin console commands: ownerid and moderatorid

Admin power comes from the Steam64ID. ownerid gives the highest level and moderatorid gives the second level. Only someone who already has the rank (or the server console) can grant it.

If you do not own the server, these commands will not work for you.

Why Rust console commands are not working

  • F1 opens but commands are refused: your account is not an admin on that server.
  • Item not found: use the item short name, or spawnitem which suggests matches.
  • Command not recognized: names change between versions. Try find <text> to search.
  • Teleport to coordinates fails: put the coordinates in quotes, teleportpos "x, y, z".
