Sons of the Forest has a developer console, but it is hidden. You unlock it by typing a word in-game, not by changing a setting. Many players miss this and think the F1 key is broken.

How to use console commands in Sons of the Forest
- Load into a game on PC. Do not be in a menu, the map, the inventory or a text box.

Sons of the Forest console commands in multiplayer
Servers block the cheat console by default. To allow it, run setgamesetupsetting GameSetting.Multiplayer.Cheats true, or set "GameSetting.Multiplayer.Cheats": true in the CustomGameModeSettings block of dedicatedserver.cfg. The config option only applies when the game mode is custom and a new save is created.
Cheats are client-side, so no command applies an effect to another player. Kick and ban are done from the in-game admin panel, and admin rights come from SteamIDs in ownerswhitelist.txt.

Use additem <name or id> to put an item in your inventory, or spawnitem to place it in the world. Spawnitem often fails for weapons, tools and outfits you have already collected.
Item ID lists differ between websites and game builds. One source says the current build has 308 items, fewer than older lists show, so if an ID does nothing, try the item name or addallitems.
